Things I Like – Stained Glass Flowing Water Window

I just can’t stop looking at this flowing water inspired stained glass window created by Washington artist Isaac Smith.  The streams of blue follow such random but beautiful pathways, reminding me how creaks and streams meander and trickle along, finding their way around rocks and branches and whatever else is present. Talk about simple elegance!

Things I Like – Stained Glass Business Card Holders

I’ve decided I probably need a stained glass business card holder of my own.  Not sure where to start, I did a quick search to find some ideas and here are the couple that I like.  I’ll keep you posted what my own business card holder ends up looking like.

Things I Like – These Rugs are Incredible

I’d like to learn this type of design for my stained glass creations. I have been following the creations and inspirations of big-time artist Altoon Sultan and her work amazes me.  My favourites are her rugs, full of simple design, yet so amazingly balanced, harmonious and pleasing to my eye.

You can follow more of Altoon Sultan’s work at http://altoonsultan.blogspot.com/

Things I Like – Stained Glass Window Design

Stained Glass Tree Design

I love the movement in this stained glass tree scene.  The tree trunk winds around like the crazy arbutus trees we have here in Victoria, BC.  I also love that the mountains are purplish-red instead of typical grey/green mountain scenes.

Things I Like – Blue Stained Glass Window

stained glass window

While the curves in this stained glass window are undoubtedly beautiful and eye catching, what I really love are the colours.  The dusty shades of blue glass are elegant and relaxing at the same time.  The different choices of blue are wonderfully combined with each other and stand out so well against the clear glass.  I have to say that I don’t really understand the circle in the middle of the window, maybe you could enlighten me if you love it!

Things I Like: Stained Glass Flower Designs

I will never grow tired of flower designs in stained glass. I’ve previously admired this light-hearted painting done by Nicole Dobbins on Etsy; I think it stained glass flower designcould also look fantastic in stained glass. That triggers an idea to spend some time looking around at different artist’s paintings on Etsy, find some I love and then collaborate with them to create their art in the stained glass medium. A great project for a rainy day…

Things I like: Crazy Stained Glass Window

Now here’s something unique!  I like that these stained glass panels have so much depth and dimension, while being flat in reality. However, I have to write this blog post quickly because the psychedelic patterns are making my eyes go berserk.   Great work by Lyanne McCredie in England.

Things I Like: Way up High

Apart from the obvious that this stained glass is stunning, I’m interested in the use of so much blue and red together.  I really like the effect but I’m wondering if it only looks amazing because the windows are such a distance from the viewer. Would a stained glass window with such bold colours look great in my kitchen window?
