Stained Glass Heart Design

Price: $20 BUY NOW!

Two pretty stained glass heart designs for your window. These colours are inspired by my walk in the forest, where the beautiful colours of the oregon grape plant kept catching my eye: dusty blue berries on rich red stems, surrounded by crisp green leaves.  I couldn’t decide whether to use a red stripe or a green stripe, so I made both options.  Which is your favourite?

Things I Like – Blue and Green Stained Glass Panel

E5191BE4[1]I seem to be really drawn to green and blue together because I keep noticing it everywhere I go (it is quite eye-catching).  So it only makes sense that I really like this stained glass panel.  It has beautiful curves, a sense of playfulness, and green and blue together.  Also notice the bold texture in the green glass on the left, creating extra interest for the eye.  I am intrigued by the use of empty space amongst the nuggets; I’d like to experiment with using empty space in one of my designs soon.

Stained Glass Mountain Window Design

Price: SOLD

What fun I had last week creating this stained glass mountain design that’s custom-made to fit into a hexagon window that’s up at 2nd story level in a lovely home in the Kootenays.  The  plan is to create a beautiful mountain scene with a focus on still allowing lots of light through the window.

I’m really pleased with these creative ideas used in this window: the swirly glass in the mountain for an artistic effect, the specially kiln-made forest glass to show perspective and depth, and a glass overlay on the mountain reflection where I needed a darker shade of grey than was available.  I can’t wait to see photos of it in it’s new home.

Things I Like – Stained Glass Mountain Designs

I’ve had the pleasure of spending some time this week creating a custom window based on this gorgeous mountain scene from the Kootenay Rockies here in British Columbia.

Stained Glass Mountain Design

I spent a little time looking at stained glass mountain reflections and found these two stunning windows as well as a quilt (too funny)!

I wasn’t thrilled with my glass choices for the forest part of the window, so here I am enjoying myself in the glass studio, busy creating my own look with glass and frit.  This glass is ready to go in the kiln.

This glass will be out of the kiln in the morning and then I’ll be ready to put the window together.  It’s going to be good – I have another little idea up my sleeve, so stay posted to see the final window!

Things I Like – Stained Glass Window Design

Stained Glass Tree Design

I love the movement in this stained glass tree scene.  The tree trunk winds around like the crazy arbutus trees we have here in Victoria, BC.  I also love that the mountains are purplish-red instead of typical grey/green mountain scenes.

Stained Glass Dragonfly DesignThese stained glass suncatchers are inspired by the colourful dragonflies flitting around my garden. I thought to myself “Why not enjoy these lovely creatures from my window all year around?” So I created a graceful lovely design in ten beautiful colours to suit any home decor. I love that the textured wings shimmer a whole rainbow of colours. Each dragonfly is 6.5″ tall x 4.5″ wide and has a little loop for hanging from the window

Stained Glass Ocean Scenery Design

Price: $45 BUY NOW!

Stained Glass Ocean Scenery Design

This stained glass suncatcher of a sailboat in the ocean scenery is created from a sketch I drew sitting in a little dingy off the coast of Powell River, Canada. It was a beautiful day, the hills were such pleasing shapes, a sailboat sailed right into the picture and I was inspired. I think this scenery brings joy and memories of beautiful days spent at the water.

Things I Like – Blue Stained Glass Window

stained glass window

While the curves in this stained glass window are undoubtedly beautiful and eye catching, what I really love are the colours.  The dusty shades of blue glass are elegant and relaxing at the same time.  The different choices of blue are wonderfully combined with each other and stand out so well against the clear glass.  I have to say that I don’t really understand the circle in the middle of the window, maybe you could enlighten me if you love it!
